A modern day tale of making a fortune in the world of oil drilling in West Texas.. A farmer, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

Essentially, they manage the land and secure the lease so that they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, assemble drilling equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part-time fixers, problem solvers, and leaders.
It’s his show!
Taylor Sheridan makes her female character very shallow even when she appears to be strong, so this series is no different. But the show is a winner for me because Billy Bob steals every scene; even the ones with half-naked women! The way the oil business is depicted is probably very true to the way the industry is run.
His female characters are seriously flawed
BB has the best lines to describe the value of oil and what makes the world go round (oil). The settings are great, and the way the machines work is actually quite instructional. I just don’t get why the daughter is such a slut and the wife is such a loser, but I guess that’s Sheridan’s way.
But if you want great lines and Billy Bob Thornton at his best, watch this show
He’s brilliant.
