This adaptation (one ep) seems to be going well
So you all read the book eons ago (it was like a growing up ritual in a certain time and place) and TBH he remembered very little outside. from the odd name (because some of the ones Jilly created were so rigorous – Rupert Campbell Black says it all – and kind of went into the lexicon), but I started almost immediately, if I don’t remember the big plot, getting a synaptic picture with the intoxicating opium scent of YSL from watching The Rivals.

and the socio-political commentary, while not shoved in your face, is much clearer than when I read books. Maybe because I’m older and I’ve met more people, Cooper’s criticism of British culture is more obvious, but I think the cast, the accents, the costumes – the drawing of each character is also important.
